Capture the Season: Outdoor Family Photos in Portland’s Most Scenic Spots

There’s just something about this time of year in Portland. Everything feels alive — the sun sticks around a little longer, the flowers are showing off, and it’s the perfect season to get outside and make memories. If you’ve been thinking about a family photo session, this is one of the most magical times to do it.

Lupines in full bloom make the dreamiest backdrop for playful, candid moments.

May through October in the PNW is the perfect time for updated photos. Everything is blooming — from wild lupines to lush garden farms — and the sunshine adds that soft, golden glow we all love. It’s my favorite time of year for outdoor family photos, not just because the flowers are beautiful (and they are!), but because the warmer weather makes sessions feel easy, relaxed, and full of joy. Kids can run barefoot through open fields, snuggle up with you under a flowering tree, or toss rocks into the river while I capture those in-between moments that really tell your family’s story. Whether we meet at a quiet riverside spot, a dreamy meadow, or one of my favorite flower-filled farms just outside Portland, we’ll find the perfect place that fits your family’s energy and style. These sessions are all about connection, color, and letting your family just be — while surrounded by the beauty of the season.
